Abstract

In this mordern era, social networking has become very popular, with most people using the services of several social media platforms.With the increase in the use of social media, the issue of privacy of personal data has arisen. This paper will discuss the issue ofprivatedata protection in Indonesia ahead of the 2019 Presidential Election. Itwill also discuss the impact of the unauthorised use of personal data obtained from social media accounts, especially Facebook.Thisstudy employstheanalyticaland descriptiveresearch methods. Data collection wasdone byliterature research;library research wasperformedto obtainsecondary data,and aliterature review of some online media references,such as online magazine sitesfrom several countries. We conclude thatthere is no legal umbrella protecting Indonesians with respect to the safetyoftheir personaldata. Therefore, the country may be vulnerable to cyber ​​media-based campaignsas we move towards the 2019 Presidential Election.
